Applications are invited for a Research SQL Administrator or Developer to work with the Clinical Informatics and Health Outcomes Research group (clininf.eu), led by Prof Simon de Lusignan, to manage, process and develop research data services.

The successful applicant will take a lead role in the design, coding, testing and documentation of SQL queries and data import and export processes; they will provide training, technical advice, mentorship or coaching to colleagues, and manipulate large and complex relational databases, developing new scripts, views, stored procedures and other related database functionality to improve the performance, processing and management of this data. They will also work with large electronic health records systems, such as RCGP RSC, and both manage their own work and undertake collaborative projects with colleagues and external partners.

You will have an expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server versions 2016 to 2019, experience of writing T-SQL and using various techniques to improve query performance, as well as experience in database administration and with using SSIS and/or .NET. You will be an effective team worker able to work both alone and as part of a team, with good communication skills and the ability to plan, implement and deliver substantial work packages and developments to live systems.

You will be based at Eagle House, Walton Well Road, Oxford, OX2 6ED. The other department buildings are located nearby in the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter on Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG.

This position is funded for two years in the first instance. Another SQL Administrator/Developer position is also available for 12 months in the first instance, and applicants will be considered for both posts.

An appointment at Grade 7 (£32,817 – £40,322 p.a.) may be considered with an appropriate adjustment of responsibilities.
